CE Hours 5

About this course

The healthcare field has long been underinformed when it comes to eating disorders and weight stigma. This lack of awareness can prevent people from getting the care they need, often leading to healthcare avoidance. This course is designed to help healthcare and mental health professionals identify eating disorders, recognize weight stigma, address biases, and become eating disorder-informed when assessing and treating patients to help them succeed in their wellness goals and to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

  • Identify how a lack of education of eating disorders can trigger increased eating disorder behavior, stigma, and prevent access to care and treatment.
  • Explain why a multidisciplinary team is imperative to ED care and treatment.
  • List 3 strategies to being mindful with comments and language when speaking to someone with an eating disorder and/ or eating disorder history.
  • Identify 3 signs and symptoms that someone with an eating disorder needs more support/ treatment.
